The Case for Drones

REMOVE THE
SCAFFOLDING.
KEEP THE DATA.

Traditional building inspection at height requires scaffolding, mobile elevated work platforms or rope access — all of which are expensive, slow to mobilise and introduce their own access risks.

A drone can reach the same positions in minutes, capture high-resolution imagery from 2–5 metres away, and produce a detailed inspection record without a single person leaving the ground.

For routine condition surveys, pre-purchase assessments, post-storm damage reports and insurance inspections, drone inspection is faster, safer and more cost-effective than traditional access methods.

TRADITIONAL vs DRONE
Scaffolding erection (days)
Drone deployment (hours)
MEWP hire and operator
Single UAV operator
Working at height risk
Zero personnel at height
Site disruption during access
Minimal operational impact
Limited viewing angles
Any angle, any elevation
High mobilisation cost
Significantly lower cost

01

Roof Inspection

Detailed condition survey of flat and pitched roofs, guttering, flashings, membranes and drainage without scaffolding or access platforms.

02

Façade & Cladding

Close-range visual inspection of building envelopes, cladding systems, joints, fixings and surface defects at height.

04

Structural Survey

Identify cracking, settlement, corrosion, delamination and other structural defects across complex building forms.

05

Heritage & Listed Buildings

Non-invasive inspection of sensitive structures where access equipment would cause damage or disruption.

06

Post-Storm Assessment

Rapid condition assessment following storm, flood or impact events to identify damage and prioritise remediation.

07

Pre-Purchase Survey

Detailed aerial condition report to support property acquisition, due diligence and insurance underwriting.
